Remove the steering wheel by following the appropriate procedures, then disconnect the column wiring harness and coupler. Next, take off the upper and lower column covers. If the vehicle is equipped with cruise control, remove the slip ring, followed by the turn signal canceling sleeve. For later models, unscrew the switch retaining screws and remove the switch. Loosen the turn signal switch cam nut screw and lightly tap its head to allow the cam nut to loosen, then remove the turn signal switch assembly and the steering shaft upper bushing. To install, reverse the removal steps, ensuring that the locating tab on the turn signal switch engages with the notch in the steering column. The steering shaft upper bushing should be positioned with the flat side facing the upper side of the column, aligning the notch for the turn signal switch with the flat side of the bushing. If the cam nut was removed on earlier models, install it with the small end facing up.
