Q: What is the purpose of the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor for the Honda Prelude?
A: The ECM/PCM uses the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor to keep an eye on the air temperature in the intake manifold which helps it decide when to spark as well as how much fuel to allow. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor's wiring harness. Measure the resistance between terminals, compare with chart results, and if resistance is not correct, sensor replacement is necessary. Replace by removing battery connections, unscrew the sensor and install a new one having Teflon sealant on its threads.
