What is the purpose of the Electronic Control Module (ECM) in the Honda Prelude?

First of all, this is the vehicle's engine control computer also known as the Electronic Control Module (ECM). It controls the engine system in manual vehicles. On the other hand, when it combines with Transmission Control Module (TCM), it forms a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that controls both the engine and shift functions of automatic vehicles. The PCM processes sensor data from sensors, and controls fuel supply, ignition timing, and emission system. When ECM fails, the system defaults to a pre-programmed mode which triggers the Malfunction Indicator Lamp. It is necessary to handle control units with care and ensure their proper grounding.
