Honda Prelude Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What is the purpose and location of the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor for the Honda Prelude?
A: Crankshaft Position (CKP) is a sensor that monitors the engine speed and fuel injector timing. It often has a Top Dead Center (TDC) sensor and it is located behind the crankshaft pulley. To test this, reset the Electronic Control Module (ECM) and start the engine. If Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0335 or P0336 appears on the screen, take resistance measurement between CKP/TDC sensor terminals. For V6 engines, check the resistance between CKP sensor terminals and vehicle body. Disconnect the battery of the vehicle to replace CKP sensor then remove the connector of the sensor, drive belts, crankshaft pulley, and timing bell cover. Reverse order installation for new sensors.
