Honda Pilot Differential Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install a differential in a Honda Pilot?
A: Raise the rear of the vehicle and securely support it on jackstands. Place the transaxle in Neutral with the parking brake off. Block the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Drain the differential lubricant. Remove the driveaxles. Mark the relationship of the driveshaft to the pinion flange, then unbolt the driveshaft from the flange. Suspend the driveshaft with a piece of wire (don't let it hang by the center support bearing). Unbolt the damper weight from the differential. Support the differential with a floor jack, then remove the differential mounting bolts. Slowly lower the jack and detach the breather tube from the differential, then remove the differential from under the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten all fasteners. Fill the differential with the proper lubricant.
