Honda Pilot Transmission Assembly Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install and align the automatic transaxle and engine assembly on Honda Pilot?
A: First, drain the fluid of the transmission. Second, remove the engine/transaxle assembly and separate the transaxle from the engine according to instructions. Installation is just removal in reverse order with attention to the following points: Before installing it, make sure that the torque converter is fully seated inside of or engaged in the transaxle. Do this by turning it while pushing towards the transaxle; if it was not already in place, you will feel it "clunk" into position as it engages with input shaft and front pump. This may even happen repeatedly. Lubricate multi-purpose grease on your torque converter hub. Move transaxle backward carefully until dowel pins and torque converter engaged. Carry out same steps as before but ensure that driveplate and torque converter marks agree completely with each other correctly positioned on flywheel or flex plate (remember they have bolts). Bolt down Transaxle to Engine Assembley". After putting everything back together, I tightened all my Driveplate-to-Torque Converter bolts . Install and adjust Shift Cable. Fill transmission with recommended type and amount of fluid, start vehicle and check for leaks.
