Honda Fit Valve Cover

The Valve Cover of Honda Fit vehicles play a very important function that acts as a barrier to protect the cylinder head and the valvetrain assembly from oil loss and debris respectively. Usually they are created from plastic or metal, but one can find on such covers such additions like fins or own separate script. The design incorporates gaskets that provide quickadjournment of any lid gap, however, using gaskets also bears the risk of gasket deterioration, followed by oil leakage due to the effects of aging and the beat. Specifically for Honda Fit models, there have been changes in Valve Cover over the years in regard to the following, the normal plastic kinds, and aluminum kinds. Plastic cover tend to crack after sometime while the aluminum covers offer more protection and do not suffer from warping as the plastic ones whenever they are removed. Sustituting the standard valve cover with metal one is also beneficial for other performance enhancement adjustments and for this reason, it can be considered as practical for enthusiasts.

Honda Fit Valve Cover Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install the Valve Cover on Honda Fit?
A: To remove the upper Intake Manifold, first disconnect the ignition coil connectors and remove the harness and any brackets from the valve cover on 2009 and later models. Thoroughly wipe off the valve cover to prevent debris from falling onto the exposed Cylinder Head or Camshaft/valve train assembly. Loosen the bolts gradually in the reverse order of the tightening sequence, then lift off the valve cover and gasket. If the gasket is stuck to the cylinder head, tap it with a rubber mallet to break the seal, avoiding prying between the cover and cylinder head to prevent damage to the gasket mating surfaces. For installation, remove the old gasket and clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and valve cover with a rag soaked in brake system cleaner. Install a new molded rubber gasket into the groove around the valve cover perimeter and apply beads of RTV sealant where the timing chain cover meets the cylinder head. Position the cover and tighten the bolts in the recommended sequence to the specified torque. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse order of removal.
