How to replace a thermostat in the Honda Fit?

When in good condition, drain and retain coolant from the cooling system. Take off the splash guard as well as the wire harness bracket, air filter housing, ground strap bolt, and harness clamps. Disconnect all hoses that convey coolant and remove the cover of thermostat housing. Clear all gasket surfaces and take out the thermostat. Put a new sealing ring and thermostat with accurate positioning. For 2008 and earlier models, inject RTV sealant on the cover of the housing. Follow the same steps for reinstallation only that you should tighten up housing bolts before refilling cooling system after the sealant has dried up. Start your engine, let it get to normal temperature then check if there are any leaks.
