Honda Fit Camshaft Position Sensor

The Camshaft Position Sensor found in the Honda Fit automobiles is an important device that tracks the position and rotational movement of the camshaft at any given time. It is relaunched to the engine control module (ECM) that controls the aspects such as fuel injectors and ignition timelines to help boost the performance of the engine. Normally this part of Honda Fit is positioned above the camshaft and named Camshaft Position Sensor, although the position can be different considering the model. The Camshaft Position Sensor's primary purpose is to work hand in hand with the crank sensor to coordinate the engine functions especially in the automobiles with variable valve timing system. It is very important for correct timing of Fuel Injection and better combustion of fuels in the engine. The Camshaft Position Sensor, for Honda Fit models, if there are any damages for this component it will inevitably result in lower performance of the car's engine, therefore, it is important to ensure the Camshaft Position Sensor's condition is in good state.

Honda Fit Camshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: Where is the CMP sensor mounted and what are the steps for its removal and installation on Honda Fit?
A: The CMP sensor is mounted in the cylinder head on the firewall side of the engine toward the driver's side, with the electrical connector accessible from below the throttle body. For models from 2009 or later, the cowl cover and lower cowl need to be removed. Next, the air filter housing should be taken out. After disconnecting the electrical connector from the CMP sensor, the mounting bolt can be removed, allowing the sensor to be pulled out of the cylinder head. Installation follows the reverse process, ensuring a new O-ring is used (lubricated with clean engine oil) and the sensor mounting bolt is tightened to the specified torque.
