Q: How to remove and install the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensors in the Honda CR-V?
A: On Civic 2.4L engines and CR-V models, there are two Camshaft Position (CMP) sensors; sensor "A" used for the intake camshaft and sensor "B" used for the exhaust camshaft. On Civic 2.4L engines and 2014 and earlier CR-V models to remove sensor "B", you must first remove the air filter housing cover. On 2015 and later CR-V models, you must first remove the high-pressure fuel pump cover. Disconnect the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor electrical connector. On Civic 1.8L engines, the CMP is located on the back of the cylinder head, at the left end (driver's side). On Civic 2.4L engines and CR-V, sensor "A" is located on the back of the cylinder head, sensor "B" is located on the side of the cylinder head, above the transaxle. Remove the CMP sensor mounting bolt and remove the CMP sensor from the cylinder head. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to use a new O-ring on the sensor and lighten the CMP sensor mounting bolt securely.
