Q: How do you remove and install the steering column on Honda Odyssey?
A: To take out the steering column, then you should park the car's wheels parallel to the direction in which you are moving, then turn the vehicle off and then join the battery's negative terminal. Tilt the Steering Wheel to the lowest position-around 8mm down from the top, and then unbolt the steering wheel to undo the clockspring of the airbag and to avoid twisting the steering shaft. On 2004 and prior models, remove the steering column covers, clockspring, multi-function switch, shift cable and the steering shaft cover and indicate the position of the U-joint to the intermediate shaft before taking off the pinch bolt. After that, take out the steering column mounting bolts, drop the column and position it backward. For the year 2005 and subsequent years, it is necessary to take off the multi-functional trim panel located near the accelerator pedal and the cover located at the lower part of the steering column. Angle up the column and screw in the wheel, so that the lower part of the shaft does not get loosened. Extend the wheel, secure it and then unscrew the bolt on the lower part of the joint, before disconnecting the wires of the combination switch reel as well as the ignition switch. Last of all, undo and take out the steering column in the same manner in case the inner shaft comes off, place back the U-joint. For installation some of the procedures are; Insert the steering column into its proper position and fasten the screws and nuts securing the mechanism, connect the U joint to intermediate shaft and fixing by pinching a bolt and nut. Perform the reverse of the removal procedure and then connect the negative battery terminal.
