Q: How do you remove and install the shift lever on Honda Odyssey?
A: For 2004 and earlier models, start with the steering column on /release, engaging the parking brake and placing the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers into Neutral. The Shift Cable is then disconnected from the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers and the bracket, the shift lock solenoid, and the park pin switch connectors are also disconnected after which the mounting bolts of the shifter and the shift are removed. After installation check the neutral position indicator light when the ignition switch is on and correct the place of the shift cable ahead of time if possible. On the 2005 and subsequent models, you have to first remove the instrument panel center trim panel and the center lower panel and then you'll need to disconnect the two wiring harnesses linked to the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers. Shift the gear lever to Reverse while the vehicle is in motion and when this is executed, switch off the ignition. Push down the lock tab of the cable end holder, if you have to use needle-nose pliers to pinch the center part of the shift cable lock before you can pull it off. Disconnect the end of the shift cable from the cable end holder, rotate the socket holder 90 degrees in the anti-clockwise direction to unlock it from the bracket, unlock the wiring harness clamp from the bracket and after that, unscrew the mounting bolts and take out the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers. For installation reverse the removal steps, check on shifting lever operation and if required do the cable setting.
