Honda Crosstour Thermostat Housing

It is seen that the Thermostat Housing in Honda Crosstour plays a significant role in controlling the temperature of an automobile's engine so that it is capable of functioning at its prime without getting overheated. It firmly grasps the thermostat and also provides coolant circulation with the help of the valve to meet the optimum temperature range of the engine. Honda Crosstour Thermostat Housing can be made from metal or high grade plastic and although metal is more durable it tends to rust more. Different models of water necks including straight, swivel and angled types are offered and each of them offers the prime solution for coolant delivery and sealing. For instance, swivel necks enable hose positioning options while O-ring sealing makes the operation leak free. In general, the Thermostat Housing plays an important role in the Honda Crosstour's vehicle cooling system, allowing to maintain engine reliability and service life by regulating temperature.

Honda Crosstour Thermostat Housing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the water passage assembly on Honda Crosstour?
A: The water passage is a push type assembly to attach any parts such as thermostat housing, water pump, drivebelt tensioner, air conditioning compressor, alternator, and PCV hose. It is fitted , fixed and is supposed to be sealed against the engine block and can only be opened if there is a leakage. To uninstall it, firstly, pull the cable out, the negative terminal of the battery, secondly, turn off the engine and drain the cooling system. Then, let us have the thermostat out of its housing and then the alternator if you can, and the air conditioning compressor without taking off the lines, and let's fasten it aside. Then the splash shield situated beneath the engine compartment and the Intake Manifold has to be taken off. Disconnect the pipe connecting the water passage to the water bypass hose and PCV valve and, using spanners, remove the bolts joining the water passage and the engine block and take off the thermostat housing. For installation, it is required that the sealing surface of the water passage is clean, no old gasket material remaining; then, a new O-ring is to be inserted into the groove. RTV sealant must be used to seal the surface between the engine block and water passage, a small amount on the inner threads of the bolt hole. There will be found the water passage and finally screw the bolts up to the recommended torque. The rest steps are vice versa of removing and take at least 3 hours for setting and drying of the RTV sealant before refilling of the cooling system. Last but not the least; add coolant in the cooling system.
