The Oil Pump in Honda Crosstour automobiles is responsible for the continuous supply of oil to internal combustion engines across its network. Its main role is to supply lubrication under pressure since it plays a crucial role in keeping important engine parts cool such as bearings, pistons, and the camshaft among others. The mechanical oil pumps used in Honda Crosstour are found to be reliable as the pump is driven by crankshaft or camshaft. Three different types of oil pumps may be used: gear, trochoid and vane, depending on the performance of the Honda Crosstour Model. It pumps the oil from the sump, filters and cools the oil before distributing it to the places which require the oil under the right pressure that is important for the satisfaction of the engine. Periodic checks and especially, oil and filter changes should be conducted to avoid blockages in the system hence improving the efficiency and durability of the Honda Crosstour's Oil Pump.

Honda Crosstour Oil Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install the Oil Pump on V6 engine on Honda Crosstour?
A: To pull Timing Belt and crankshaft sprocket and idler as well as the crank shaft position sensor need to be removed. Next, the oil pan and the oil pick-up screen must be eliminated and if present, the oil level sensor as well. Remove the two bolts that secure the oil filter adapter housing/VTEC solenoid assembly to the front of the oil pump, if possible rotate the assembly so you can use your fingers to pull it off the front of the oil pump, then use a screwdriver to pry off the oil pump housing from the engine. For inspection, the pump cover has to be removed using a large Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws which hold the cover at the rear of the housing to reveal the pump rotors, and then measure gap with feeler gauge. Some signs which indicate that it is the right time to replace the pump includes some level of wear or damage found on them, if the pump body and engine block show some signs of old sealant then they should be cleaned. For installation, remove the old crankshaft oil seal and then coat the lip of the new seal with multi-purpose grease. Roughen the inner surface of the cover and coat the threads of the screws with petrroleum jelly and apply the thread-locking compound before screwing them in a cross-wise manner. Before assembling the gasket surfaces, it is recommended that they are cleaned using acetone or lacquer thinner then apply a bead of the anaerobic sealant in advance to the oil pump flange and Bolt threads and should new O-rings be used. Screw and tighten the pump mounting bolts in their positions after first putting the oil pump drive rotor into contact with the crankshaft and position the pump. It is necessary to replace the O-ring with a new one before fitting the oil pick-up screen and tightening the fasteners. The remaining parts should be refitted in reverse order The sealant should set in twenty minutes After the refitting of the parts the oil is added to the engine The next steps involve checking for oil leakage and pressure After operation of the engine, the engine oil level should be checked again.
