Honda Crosstour Mass Air Flow Sensor

The Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) in Honda Crosstour cars is highly functional in providing the efficiency in the engines through the determination of the amount of air in its intake. All this information is communicated to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) which in turn reprograms the fuel injector to adjust the timing and hence achieve the correct air/fuel ratio. The MAF sensor can be of several types, namely Vane Meter (VAF) and Hot Wire sensors - both of which use different techniques to calculate the airflow. As for the essence of their functioning, while the VAF sensor concerns a spring-loaded vane, the Hot Wire sensor considers changes in current in a heated wire and seems more accurate one. Periodically these sensors become contaminated and lead to problems such as stalling or bad air-fuel ratios. Proper care is to be always given to the Mass Air Flow Sensor so that the engine in the Honda Crosstour cars runs smoothly in all situations.

Honda Crosstour Mass Air Flow Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What is the purpose and location of the MAF/IAT sensor in Honda Crosstour, and how is it disconnected and reinstalled?
A: As a note, 2003 and 2004 SULEV and LX-P 4-cylinder models and all 2005 and later four cylinder models are equipped with an MAF/Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor, which combines the functions of the MAF and Intake Manifold Temperature (IMT) sensors into one unit. The sensor is located on the air filter housing. To disconnect the electrical connector, depress the release tab and disconnect the electrical connector, then remove the retaining screws. Remove the sensor retaining screws and remove the sensor. To reinstall, switch the removal steps going from the last step to the first step.
