Honda Crosstour Ignition Switch

The Honda Crosstour possess an Ignition Switch, which is one of the fundamental attribute to the ignition and charging within the vehicle and controlling the engine and other critical power related systems of the vehicle. Depending on the position of the Ignition Switch with a key, button or remote control the computer of the Crosstour activates certain functions like the starter solenoid and other components of the ignition so the car can work. The Crosstour has also incorporated a change in the styles of Ignition Switches which include the conventional mechanical Keys and the Key-less Ignition switches with push buttons. Even these programmes need a transponder signal to activate them and this makes them secure. Although the Ignition Switch is crucial to the availability of any kind of vehicle's functionality, it is relatively easy to fix and often is fitted with unique plugging in design prescribed for Honda Crosstour only.

Honda Crosstour Ignition Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install the ignition switch/key lock cylinder assembly on Honda Crosstour?
A: Remove the dashboard lower cover and the steering column covers. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch/Ignition Lock Cylinder assembly by depressing the release tab and pulling out the connector. Center-punch the shear bolts that attach the ignition switch/Ignition Lock Cylinder assembly clamp to the steering column, then drill a hole in both bolts and unscrew them with a screw extractor to remove the clamp and the ignition switch/Ignition Lock Cylinder assembly. Install the new ignition switch/Ignition Lock Cylinder assembly on the steering column without the ignition key inserted, then install the mounting clamp and new shear bolts without tightening them yet. Insert the ignition key to verify that it turns freely and that the steering wheel lock functions correctly. Once confirmed, tighten the two shear bolts until the hex heads twist off. The installation process is the reverse of removal.
