    Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector and ground wire, remove the fuel pump retainer from the fuel pump housing, remove the rubber insulator from the fuel pump, remove the fuel strainer from the inlet end of the fuel pump, then remove the fuel pump from the pump housing.

When installing the unit on a non-SULEV model, ensure that the index mark on top of the fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit points between the two marks on the edge of the hole. On SULEV models or V6 models, ensure that the three asymmetrically-located notches in the mounting flange align with their corresponding lugs on top of the pump assembly.
