    Q:
How do you remove and reinstall the valve cover on Honda Odyssey? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing the valve cover, the connection with the negative terminal of the battery should be disconnected, then the ignition complexes and the upper intake manifold should be removed. On the 2004 and older models, to get access to the PCV valve and to remove it, one has to disconnect the PCV hose connected to the left front side of the valve cover and unbolt the bracket that holds the power steering hose at the rear valve cover. During 2005 and after, first loosen and tidy out of the way those interfering wiring harnesses, and lastly, loosen the drivebelt. For 2007 and later models, the power steering pump can be removed without disconnecting the hoses; however, for the earlier models, one wishes to disconnect the power steering hose support bracket. Unbolt the wiring harnesses and brackets; then, take off the retainer bolts so that you can disengage the valve cover; in this case, use a wooden block and hammer if it does not come off easily. Do not inset pry bar at the cover-to-head joint to avoid damaging the sealing surface and subsequently leading to oil leak. This involves the removal of the original gasket and seal washers, then is followed by the cleaning of the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and valve cover. If the rear valve cover was removed, one should check the condition of the PCV valve before putting the valve cover back on. For installation, a new gasket is to be placed in the groove and new seal washers are to be put on bolts. Fit the cover and tighten the bolts to the prescribed torque in equal incremental stages in correct torque pattern. Refit the other parts as necessary, reconnect the battery and start the engine-observe for oil leakage.

    Q:
How do you remove and install a valve cover on V6 engine on Honda Accord? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before proceeding with the process of removal of the valve cover, one has to detach the cable of the negative terminal of the battery. Then, detachment of the ignition coil assemblies accompanied with the use of the harness holders to lift the ignition coil wiring harnesses away from the valve covers. Then remove the upper intake manifold as well. On the front valve cover, it is necessary to pull PCV hose from the left side, and in the rear valve cover, there is a bolt securing the bracket for the power steering hose which must be loosened and hose moved. Remove the studs and nuts of the front and rear cover; if the cover does not remove easily, hit the end of the cover lightly with a piece of wood and a hammer, do not pry at the cover head joint. Remove gasket and seal washers, clean the mating surfaces of cylinder head and valve cover if the rear cover is removed and always inspect PCV valve. In term of installation, if it is new, place a new gasket in the groove and counter new seal washers on the bolts. After that fix the cover and use three legal and equal steps for tightening bolts and follow the torque sequence. Install the remaining components and reconnect the battery and then start the engine and look out for any form of oil leakage.
