Q: How to remove and reinstall a valve cover on the Honda Ridgeline?
A: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the ignition coils. Remove the engine oil dipstick. Remove the upper Intake Manifold. On Honda 2WD models, disconnect the injector connectors, the rocker arm oil control solenoid connector, and the rocker arm engine oil pressure (EOP) switch connector. Detach the PCV hose from the valve cover. At the rear valve cover, remove the bolt retaining the power steering hose bracket and move the hose aside, if necessary. Remove the harness bracket bolts and disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connectors, the EGR valve connector, and the ECT sensor connectors. Remove the retaining bolts (Valve cover retaining bolls (rear valve cover)/ Valve cover retaining bolts (front valve cover)), then lift the valve cover off. If the cover is stuck to the head, bump the end with a block of wood and a hammer to jar it loose. Remove the original gasket and seal washers and clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and valve cover. If you removed the front valve cover, remove and inspect the PCV valve. Position a new gasket in the groove and install new sealing washers on the bolts. Install the cover and tighten the bolts, a little at a time. Follow the correct torque sequence. Reinstall the remaining components. Reconnect the battery. Run the engine and check for oil leaks.
