Q: How do you remove and install the Trunk Lids on Honda Prelude?
A: Before trunk removal is done, unfasten the negative battery terminal and before installation of the trunk is done fasten the negative battery terminal. To cover the trunk and adjacent trim and painted surfaces use cardboard and thick masking tape, make sure to cover up options of corners, edges and angles of the car and any other sharp or protruding objects. Unlock the trunk and open it and hold it in the open state. If necessary, you should trim the panel to get more access to the trunk retaining bolts. Any wire which is to be spliced should be disconnected from the trunk; this wire if needs to be pulled aside can be held with tape. Check to confirm all wiring connectors that should be disconnected and sometimes removed are disconnected. Mark the locations of the hinges and bolts on the trunk or on the vehicle frame, and then take the bolts out and pull out the trunk. If realignment is required, make shims of scrap sheet metal, paint stirring sticks or pieces of cardboard that can then be held in place with masking tape if wished. As for the installation process, simply undo the outlined steps and fasten the automobile trunk with the help of bolts whereby the trunk will fit perfectly because marks are made before its removal.
