- Q: How to test and install the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) for the Honda Prelude?A: The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a device that transmits the signal to measure vehicle speed to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the speedometer. To test VSS, remove the negative battery cable and wiring harness connector. To measure resistance between sensor terminals, use a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM). The resistance should be 190-250 ohms, otherwise replace the sensor. To replace VSS, disconnect the battery cable and three terminal connectors. Remove fasteners & VSS. Install new VSS; connect connector and battery cable.
