Honda Pilot Idle Control Valve

In Honda Pilot automobiles, the Idle Control Valve maintains a control of the idling speed of the engine by controlling the air that is directly bypassing the throttle plate. In cooperation with the engine control unit, this component prevents stalling of the engine during changes in load and steady the idle speed. The valve usually comes with an electric actuator that is used to operate the valve, it is a linear servo motor that is used to control the amount of air going into the engine and keep the engine Idleing speed constant. Over the years, Honda has used different styles of Idle Control Valves on the Pilot and notably the idle air control (IAC) actuator. Of course, these actuators are built to be durable, but problems may occur, for example, in the form of jamming from dirt or dust, which results in irregular idling. To prevent component failure that could lead to the need for replacement of the Idle Control Valve, it is necessary that it is cleaned for it to remain in its premier conditions for use.

Honda Pilot Idle Control Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What is the location and removal process for the IAC valve on the Honda Pilot?
A: On the 2001-2002 Acura and 2003-2004 Honda models, the Idle Control Valve is located beneath the throttle body. The newer models do not have an Idle Control Valve on an electronic throttle body. Unscrew the screws that hold the throttle body and Idle Control Valve in place to remove the Idle Control Valve from it. Replace the old Idle Control Valve gasket with a new one during installation. Screw in the Idle Control Valve screws tightly enough. The remaining part of installation follows removal's reverse order.
