To check the EGA system operation, bring the engine up to operating temperature and allow it to idle for 70 seconds. To replace the EGR valve, begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the air cleaner housing assembly, detach the vacuum line, lift the vehicle, and support it firmly on jackstands. Remove the EGR pipe from the exhaust manifold, remove the mounting bolts, and clean the mounting surface of the EGR valve. Install a new gasket and the EGR valve and tighten the bolts securely. Connect the electrical connector onto the EGA valve and disconnect the electrical connector from the EGR gas temperature sensor.
