Q: How do you remove and overhaul the clutch release cylinder on Honda Passport?
A: To remove more clutch slave cylinder now follow the steps, first secure the vehicle on the jackstands and then raise it slightly. Find the clutch slave cylinder on the side of the transmission bellhousing and detach the hydraulic line from this by removing the banjo bolt and two nuts. If there is no banjo fitting available, then you remove the tube nut and the hose fitting from the body of the cylinder. If the hydraulic hose is damaged, remove the tube nut and pull the retainer clip to change the hydraulic hose. After that, it is required to take out two retaining nuts and pull the slave cylinder. In the overhaul, remove the dust boot and pushrod and place the cylinder on a wooden block and gently strike the cylinder to remove the piston and the spring. Take out the bleeder screw and study the surface of the piston and cylinder bore and if the surface shows signs of scoring then just eliminate the cylinder and buy a new one. If the states of the components are acceptable, clean the components with fresh brake fluid, requires to take off and eliminate the seal and identify the polarity of the seal lips. Acquire a repair kit that comprises all new parts then fit the new lip of the seal in the right orientation. Soak the piston assembly in clean brake fluid and then install with the spring into the cylinder and put back the bleeder screw. To complete the reassembly just fit the pushrod and close the dust cover of the cylinder housing. For installation, the process is reversed to the removal process, bleed the clutch hydraulic system after installation.
