Should you have concluded that the transaxle has to be removed for overhaul or major repair, there are certain preliminary measures that should be taken and they include, among others, the following: When you are getting ready to undertake the removal or the installation of the transaxle, make sure to read the instructions carefully. Transaxle removal incorporates the removing of the engine and transaxle in one go. Start with the draining of the transaxle fluid and thereafter detach the transaxle from the engine. As for the installation, do the opposite of the removal process: make sure the torque converter is properly locked in the transaxle by rotating it while gently pushing it inside until it goes in with a 'click'. Apply multi purpose grease on the torque converter hub and then push the transaxle forward until dowel pins and torque converter are aligned and key marks on the torque converter and driveplate match. These bolts must be fitted to the transaxle-to-engine area and tightened to a specified torque before the installation of the engine/transaxle assembly. Lower the vehicle, connect and fine-tune the shift cable, fill the transaxle with the required type and qty of the liquid, drive the vehicle, and check if there are leakage.
