Honda Odyssey Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install the CKP sensor on Honda Odyssey?
A: For all models except 2008 and later with VCM, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal, then remove the crankshaft pulley. For 2004 and earlier models, take out the dipstick and its tube, followed by the upper and lower timing belt covers. Disconnect the wiring from the sensor and remove it from the oil pump, noting that the CKP sensor electrical connector is located behind the right end of the engine, above the timing belt tensioner for 2007 and earlier models; detach the CKP sensor by removing the mounting bolt. Installation follows the reverse order of removal. For 2008 and later models with VCM, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, and remove the cover from the CKP sensor located at the left lower rear of the engine. Disconnect the wiring from the sensor, remove the sensor, and replace the O-ring, with installation being the reverse of removal.
