The models equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) that includes an air bag require caution when working near components such as impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column, and instrument panel; it is essential to disable the SRS first. Begin by disabling the air bag system and disconnecting the negative battery cable. Next, remove the lower panel of the dashboard, followed by the knee bolster and steering column covers. Unplug the connectors from the under dash fuse block and take off the upper and lower covers of the steering column. Position the ignition switch to the "O" position, then remove the two screws securing the switch to the mount and pull the ignition switch away from the mount. The installation process follows the reverse order of removal.
