The switch housing contains the wiper, washer, and headlight switches, along with the turn signal actuator. For 1984-87 models, begin by removing the steering wheel and disconnecting the column wiring harness and coupler, taking care not to damage the steering column or shaft. Next, remove the upper and lower column covers, and if applicable, the cruise control slip ring. Proceed to remove the turn signal canceling sleeve, then for later models, take out the switch retaining screws and remove the switch. Loosen the screw on the turn signal switch cam nut and lightly tap it to allow the cam nut to loosen, then remove the turn signal switch assembly and the steering shaft upper bushing. To install, reverse the procedure, ensuring that the locating tab on the turn signal switch engages with the notch in the steering column, and install the steering shaft upper bushing with the flat side facing upward. For earlier models, if the cam nut has been removed, install it with the small end facing up.
