    Q:
How to check starter and starting circuit for the Honda Odyssey? Posted by Customer
    A:
When troubleshooting starting circuit issues, don't immediately blame the starter. Check the battery cable clamps, battery cables, and battery condition. Inspect the starter solenoid wiring, starter mounting bolts, fuses 41 and 42, and the ignition switch circuit. Confirm the gear position switch and starter cut relay are functioning. If the starter doesn't engage, check for battery voltage at the solenoid's "S" terminal. If no voltage, check fuses No.41 and No. 42, and the starter cut relay. If voltage is present but the starter doesn't engage, bench test the starter. If the starter turns over slowly, monitor the voltage and current draw from the battery. If the starter receives voltage but doesn't activate, bench test the starter/solenoid assembly.

    Q:
How to detach and remove the starter on the Honda Pilot? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the battery's negative terminal. For 2001-2004 Acura and Honda models, unlatch the ATF cooler hose clamp and move the hose. Remove the starter's upper and lower bolts. For 2003-2006 Acura and all Honda models, detach the harness clamp from the starter bracket. For 2007 Acura models, remove the air filter housing, battery, and transaxle dipstick. Disconnect the wires from the starter motor solenoid. For 2003 and later Acura and 2005 and later Honda models, remove the electrical connector and starter cable. Disconnect wiring clips, remove starter bolts, and remove the starter. Installation is the reverse of removal.

    Q:
How to check Starter Motor for the Honda Pilot? Posted by Customer
    A:
Avoid blaming the starter right away when you face a starting circuit problem. Diagnose battery cable clamps, cables, and condition of the battery. You should inspect the starter solenoid, starter mounting bolts, fuse box, ignition switch circuit, gear position switch or clutch start circuit, and starter cut relay. If the starter doesn't activate, you should test the fusing of the starting system and battery voltage at solenoid. In case of slow turnover by the crankshaft by the starter, you may want to test its turning voltage and current draw. When the starter receives power but fails to engage remove and examine the starter/solenoid assembly.

    Q:
What should you do to disconnect the wires from the starter motor solenoid for the 2009 Honda Odyssey? Posted by Customer
    A:
Clearly label the wires. Disconnect the wires from the terminals on the starter motor solenoid.
