Q: How do you remove and install the Steering Knuckle on Honda Passport?
A: To have the wheel removed, the lug nuts should be unwrenched, the car should be lifted to a higher level, with the front being supported by jackstands put at the lower Control Arms and the parking brake applied. Second, take off the front wheel and after that the break caliper taking it above the upper arm or connecting it somewhere due to the space constraints, subsequently, take away the caliper anchor bracket fixed on the steering knuckle. Continue with the removal of the front hub assembly and brake disc and thereafter, the splash shield that is fixed to the steering knuckle through the bolts. Remove the nut on the threaded shaft of the tie-rod end and un-bolt the knuckle arm while placing the lower control arm on a jack. Next, remove both balljoints from the steering knuckle conjunction to the removal of the steering knuckle. For installation, slide in the knuckle between the upper and lower suspension arms engaging the balljoint studs to the knuckle on the lower balljoint first. Tighten them to the desired torque, then fit new cotter pins, if required loosing the nut slightly to have the slots in the cotter pins aligned to the Balljoint Studs. Disconnect the rising and lowering mechanism and take out the jack located under the lower arm then connect the tie-rod end to the knuckle arm and replace the splash shield. Then install the hub and the brake disc, then the brake caliper mounting bracket and the caliper. Last, but not least, secure the wheel and the lug nuts, drop the car to the ground and finally, tighten the lug nuts to the proper torque.
