Q: How do you check and replace the ignition switch and lock cylinder on Honda Passport?
A: To check the ignition switch, trace the wiring from the ignition switch to the main wiring harness connector and disconnect it. Using an ohmmeter or self-powered test light along with the diagrams, check for continuity between the indicated switch terminals with the switch in each of the specified positions; if continuity is not as required, replace the switch. For replacement, first disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and ensure the ignition key is in the OFF position. Remove the steering wheel and the steering column cover, then take out the combination switch from the steering column. Unplug the ignition switch wiring harness connector and detach the switch retaining screw to remove the ignition switch assembly from the steering column. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the lock cylinder, use a small screwdriver or punch to depress the lock cylinder retaining pin, then pull straight out on the lock cylinder assembly to remove it from the vehicle. To install the lock cylinder, depress the retaining pin and guide it into the steering column housing until the retaining pin extends back into the locating hole. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse of removal.
