Honda Fit Fuel Level Sensor

Basically, the role of the Fuel Level Sensor in the Honda Fit car brand is to help the driver determine when to refill the tank with fuel. As it seems the behavior of high temperature does not affect this electronic device to give accurate reading with low power consumption. The so called float is engaged with an actuating rod and a resistor and is responsible for sending signals to the fuel gauge. Through the years, Honda Fit has adopted many kinds of Fuel Level Sensors particularly under the fuel tank or welded to the fuel pump carrier bracket. These sensors are special because can be easily calibrated and perform as expected while giving the drivers sufficient fuel updates. It is very important for the Fuel Level Sensor to work properly because any failure results in wrong information, for instance, the car's fuel gauge shows that the tank is full after fuelling.

Honda Fit Fuel Level Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What are the steps involved in replacing the fuel level sensor unit, fuel filter, and fuel pump assembly on Honda Fit?
A: The fuel level sensor unit, fuel filter and fuel pump assembly cannot be serviced; the entire module has to be replaced if any of the component in them is faulty. The following removal steps are; pull of fuel system pressure, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, and lastly, remove the center console. Third, take out the bolts holding the parking brake lever, and the four screws fixing the access cover for the fuel pump/fuel level sending unit assembly. Remove the electrical connector and quick connect parts from the fuel pump/fuel level sending unit pulling the fuel pump and turning the sides of the connector, then pressing the tabs backwards and pulling the tube for the quick connect. Loosen the lock ring, if possible with assistance of the special lock ring motive, and raise the fuel pump module from the top part of the fuel tank lifting it with the float arm as it should not be bent. Take of the gas cap seal, which can be left on the fuel pump module located in the gas tank. For component replacement, first remove the connector of the fuel level sensor by pressing the tang, and pulling it away from the fuel pump module; installation process is the reverse of the removal process. To remove the fuel pressure regulator, one has to firstly unscrew the fuel level sensor then unbolt the fuel suction tube located at the base of the reservoir and remove the tangs, then push off the reservoir from the fuel pump body. Remove the retaining clip of the pressure regulator holder and the ground wire then unclip the fuel tube from the fuel pump body and pull off the regulator holder from the fuel pump body. Disconnect the retaining clip and pull the pressure regulator out of the holder and in that process, make sure you interchange the O-rings with new one and the lubricate them with clean engine oil before re-fixing them. To install: put a new seal into the fuel tank opening with its base contacting the tank base flat whereas the projecting part of the seal will interconnect fuel tank and the module, without the module: Bottom part of the seal must to fit to the tank without any warp or pinch. Gradually install the fuel pump module into the fuel tank with the marks on the top of the module and on the bottom of the tank overlapping each other and fix it by placing the lock ring over the fuel pump and then fastening it with the nuts. Connect the hoses and the electrical connector, connect the negative terminal of the battery and turn the ignition key to ON position in order to pressurize the fuel system and look for any dripping at the connections. Last but not the least, the access cover, parking brake lever, and the center console should be fitted back and check whether the parking brake works fine or not.
