Honda Fit Fuel Injector

The Fuel Injector in Honda Fit vehicle has the primary function of injecting fuel into the cylinders in the most appropriate proportions to that of air to allow for the prime combustion processes to take place. This kind of system is controlled by the engine control unit, (ECU), that determines the desired time to inject fuel and the amount of fuel depending on the load of the engine. Current Honda Fit models employ an elevated fuel injection technology primarily comprising of direct as well as indirect injection techniques. Direct injection, fuel is directly injected into combustion chamber while Indirect injection merge fuel and air before entering the combustion chamber. These systems foster engine performance and increase its efficiency displacing the earlier carburetor systems. Nonetheless, as with any other parts in a car, Honda Fit Fuel Injectors can have certain problems like blockages or rupture, thus affecting the normal functioning of the automobile's engine and causing harmage. This is because the vehicle's efficiency and longevity depend on the proper functioning of the injectors which requires replacement as soon as they develop a problem.

Honda Fit Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the battery cable for fuel injector and Fuel Rail replacement on Honda Fit?
A: Relieve the fuel system pressure, then disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the intake manifold, noting that on 2007 and 2008 models, only the plastic plenum needs to be removed while the intake runner portion can remain in place. Disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel rail and the electrical connector harness from the fuel injectors by freeing the retaining tabs and detaching the harness from the fuel rail before disconnecting the electrical connectors from the injectors. Remove the two fuel rail mounting nuts and then take out the fuel rail with the injectors attached, being careful not to lose the spacers on the fuel rail mounting studs. Remove the fuel injector retaining clips and take out the fuel injectors from the fuel rail by pulling off the retainer with pliers and pulling the injector straight out of its bore. Discard the old fuel injector O-rings and lubricate new ones with clean engine oil before installation. Install the injectors to the fuel rail and secure them with the retaining clips, then reverse the removal process for installation, tightening the fuel rail nuts. Finally, reconnect the negative battery cable.
