Honda Del Sol Steering Wheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you remove and install a steering wheel on Honda Del Sol?
A: If you wish to remove the steering wheel, start with the removal of the car battery cables to eliminate electric powering, preferably the negative and the positive cables, taking caution for automobiles with an anti-theft system to have the proper code. To get to the wheel, rotate it by 180 degrees and then, with the access plate and short connector taken out, you will have access to it. Disconnect the SIR controller and withdraw the airbag module-to-cable reel connector, and use the short connector for disabling the airbag module. Take out both the torx screws on the side of the steering wheel and take off the airbag module and put it with the trim side upward. Disconnect all electrical connections of the horn and the cruise control, if any, and loosen the nut holding the steering wheel, noting a certain position between the hub of the steering and the shaft. Fully retract the steering wheel in such a way that the spokes are decorrelated from the shaft. For installation position the wheels straight and the arrow on the cable reel must be upwards. If forward a turn of the steering shaft was made, rotate the cable reel clockwise until it stops and counter clockwise until the yellow gear tooth beats the mark. Make the outer pointer of the index mark coincide with the mark on the shaft in order to lock the locating pins into holes of the steering wheel. Place the mounting nut and fasten it and connect the horn and cruise control cables. Replace the airbag module back with new Torx bolts which are tightened properly, and put the access panels back. Lastly remove the short connector from the airbag connector and connect the air bag and cable reel connector and fix the short connector and cover it with the access plate.
