Honda CRX Fuel Pressure Regulator

The Fuel Pressure Regulator in Honda CRX vehicles plays an important role of maintaining an appropriate fuel pressure in the fuel injected vehicles. It is usually installed on the fuel rail and works by a spring and diaphragm process. The regulator is linked with the engine vacuum and fuel return line and it is intended to give additional fuel as required by the engine - it lets excess fuel to be recirculated during idling and slows down the flow during acceleration. There has been use of several models of the Fuel Pressure Regulators in CRX over the years including the adjustable types for modified systems. Unlike other manufacturers, OEM regulators are mainly non-adjustable, although this hinders performance whenever large injectors or high volume pumps are used. Holley upgrades regulators, and sometimes reduces material to billet aluminum, while offering specific fitment to meet all fuel system needs for ideal air/fuel metering for street rod to high-performance vehicles.

Honda CRX Fuel Pressure Regulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What is the purpose of the fuel pressure regulator in maintaining a constant fuel pressure to the injectors for the Honda CRX?
A: The fuel pressure regulator maintains a constant fuel pressure to the injectors. The spring chamber of the pressure regulator is connected to the intake manifold to constantly maintain the fuel pressure at 36 psi (248 kpa) higher than the pressure in the manifold. If the difference between the fuel line and manifold exceeds 3El psi (248 kpa), this leads to the diaphragm being pushed upwards and ultimately excess supply is sent back through a return line into the tank.
