In the 1.8L models, you'll find the EVAP canister purge valve on top of the intake manifold near the throttle body, while 2.4L models have it on the left end of their cylinder head. First, separate the electrical connector and vacuum lines. Take out the screw mounting each valve with a small socket wrench. Finally, unhook the valve to get it free. Install it like a reversal of these steps. With the vehicle lifted and under covers off, unhook the electrical plug and turn right on the valve till it comes out. Put in a new O-ring without lubricating it before putting everything back in reverse order. To get to the EVAP fuel tank pressure sensor, lift the vehicle and remove under covers, disconnect the electrical plug, unscrew the retaining clip, and pull the sensor out. Leave the O-ring without applying oil, then install everything back in reverse order. Lift your vehicle to an appropriate position using jackstands, then take off covers that you need to see. Disconnect both vapor tube and electric wire connection from vent valve and FTP sensor, release connected vapor tubes, unscrew mounting bolts from the canister, and pull it out. When installing a new canister, put the vent shut valve and other pieces on it first. Then follow theseReverse the removal steps when putting the parts back on.
