PCV system is an acronym that stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation. It reduces the emissions of hydrocarbons in the environment by drawing fresh air into the crankcase where it mixes with the blow-by gases. The PCV valve then pulls this mixture to the intake manifold. When these vapors flow, they are controlled by the PCV valve which helps maintain idle quality. The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system helps in minimizing emission of hydrocarbons since it possesses the function of blowing fresh air from the air intake duct to the crankcase hence mixing the crankcase blow-by gases with the fresh air before being drawn by intake manifold vacuum through PCV valve to the intake manifold. In case the crankcase ventilation hose is faulty, it can be removed by simply unplugging it from the intake manifold and the PCV valve and, in the same way, the PCV valve can be removed by first unplugging the hose and then unscrewing the valve while checking and replacing the grommet if necessary.
