The interlock switch enables the engine to start only when the clutch pedal is depressed, while the clutch pedal position switch deactivates the cruise control under the same condition. In vehicles lacking cruise control, an adjustment bolt replaces the pedal position switch. Both switches are situated at the top of the clutch pedal, with the interlock switch mounted higher on the bracket and the pedal position switch lower. To replace a switch, disconnect the wiring, loosen and remove the locknut, and take out the switch, then install the new switch in reverse order and adjust it. For adjustment, disconnect the electrical connector, loosen the locknut, and turn the switch. For the clutch pedal position switch, with the pedal released, install the switch so the plunger just contacts the pedal, then screw in an additional 3/4 turn and secure the locknut. For the clutch interlock switch, with the pedal depressed approximately 2-1/2 inches for 2008 and earlier models or 1/2-inch for 2009 and later models, adjust the switch to allow the vehicle to start in this position and tighten the locknut before reconnecting the electrical connector.

Unplug the switch electrical connector. Then, loosen the locknut and unscrew the switch from the clutch pedal bracket. Installation is simply the reverse of removal. To adjust the switch, you need to loosen the locknut and turn the switch in or out, as necessary. This will provide continuity through the switch when the clutch pedal is depressed.

Check if the engine starts when the clutch pedal is fully depressed and doesn't start when released. If it doesn't follow this, disconnect the clutch switch near the top of the pedal. Test continuity between connector terminals when the pedal is depressed. If there's continuity, the switch is fine; if not, replace it. If there's continuity when the pedal is released, also replace the switch. Remove the switch by loosening the locknut and unscrewing it from the bracket. Install by reversing these steps. Adjust the switch by turning it in or out to ensure continuity when the pedal is depressed.
