Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands. Block the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Remove the wheel. On 2007 Acura MDX models, remove the rubber hangers from each side of the muffler. Remove the stabilizer bar link from the lower arm B. Support the lower arm B with a floor jack placed under the coil spring pocket. Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor harness from the lower arm B. Mark the position of the spring to the spring insulators. On 2007 Acura MDX models, remove the lower shock absorber mounting bolt. Remove the bolt securing the lower arm B to the knuckle. Slowly lower the floor jack and remove the coil spring. Check the spring for cracks and chips, replacing the springs as a set if any defects are found. Also check the upper insulator for damage and deterioration, replacing it if necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following points: Be sure to position the lower end of the coil spring in the depressed area of the trailing arm. Raise the outer end of lower arm B with a floor jack to simulate normal ride height, then tighten the control arm-to-knuckle bolt to the torque. Tighten the wheel lug nuts to the torque.

Remove the upper spring seat and insulator from the damper shaft, inspecting for any damages. Then, lift the compressed spring from the assembly. If working on both struts, label the springs as left and right to prevent confusion. Afterward, remove the dust cover plate, dust cover, and slide off the rubber bump stop.
