Before beginning these procedures, ensure you have the anti-theft code for the radio. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait at least three minutes before proceeding. For a Civic with an audio display system, remove the dash center pocket, then the lower bolts securing the radio to the dash. Carefully pull the radio assembly out far enough to reach the connections, disconnect the connectors, and remove the assembly. Remove the brackets on the side of the radio assembly and unscrew the radio from the trim panel, with installation being the reverse of removal. For a Civic with a premium sound system or navigation system, remove the driver's side lower trim panels, the instrument cluster assembly trim panel, and the center lower trim panel. Remove the lower bolts securing the radio to the dash, carefully pull the radio assembly out, disconnect the connectors, and remove the assembly. Remove the brackets on the side of the radio assembly and unscrew the radio from the trim panel, with installation being the reverse of removal. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal. For a CR-V with an audio display system, remove the center HVAC vents and the bolts securing the radio system to the dash supports. Carefully pry the radio unit forward enough to disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the radio assembly from the dash. Remove the hazard switch from the trim panel, then remove the radio bracket mounting bolts and separate the radio from the center panel, with installation being the reverse of removal. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal. For a CR-V with a premium sound or navigation system, remove the center HVAC vents and the bolts securing the assembly to the dash supports. Slide the assembly out far enough to disconnect the electrical connectors, then remove the assembly. Disconnect the FM distributor assembly and remove it, then remove the assembly from the trim and the locating brackets on either side of the assembly, with installation being the reverse of removal. For dashboard-mounted tweeters on 2011 and earlier models, carefully pry up the tweeter grille until it separates from the dashboard, lift the grille away while connected to the wiring harness, and disconnect the tweeter two-pin wiring connector. Check the capacitor for damage and replace the tweeter if any problems are visible. Connect an ohmmeter between the right-hand terminal of the electrical connector and the left-hand terminal of the capacitor, checking the resistance, which should be about 4 ohms; if not, replace the tweeter, with installation being the reverse of removal. For door-mounted tweeters, carefully pry the sail trim from the top corner of the door, disconnect the electrical connector, pry the retaining clips away from the speaker, and remove it, with installation being the reverse of removal. For door speakers, remove the front door trim panel, remove the upper mounting screw, lift up on the speaker to release the lower tab, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the speaker from the vehicle, with installation being the reverse of removal. For rear speakers in 2-door models, remove the rear shelf trim panel, open the trunk and disconnect the electrical connector from the speaker, remove the speaker mounting screw, and pull the speaker out of its receptacle, with installation being the reverse of removal. For sub-woofer removal and installation, remove the rear shelf trim, unscrew the fasteners securing the subwoofer to the rear shelf, raise the speaker and disconnect the electrical connections, then remove the speaker, with installation being the reverse of removal.
