First of all, replacing the spark plugs requires a spark plug socket, an extension, a ratchet, a wire-type feeler gauge, and a torque wrench. New plugs should be checked for faults and electrode spacing adjusted. Disconnect the MAP sensor for 2008 or earlier models while 2009 onwards require removing cowl panel and lower cowl. Remove the ignition coils to facilitate access to these plugs. Clean around the spark plug, remove old plugs and compare them with the chart to judge engine condition. Apply anti-seize compound to new plug threads. A rubber hose can be used; this will prevent cross-threading while inserting new plugs. Tighten up the plugs, put back in place ignition coils and reset Maintenance Minder.

The recommended approach when replacing spark plugs is to purchase the new spark plugs beforehand, check the gaps, and then replace each plug one at a time.
