To remove and install the struts, first raise and safely support the vehicle, then remove the front wheels. Next, take off the brake hose clamp bolts from the strut and unfasten the damper fork bolts to remove the damper fork. From the engine compartment, take out the three upper strut mounting nuts and remove the strut from the vehicle. When installing, use new self-locking bolts for the struts and damper forks. Install the strut into the vehicle and hand-tighten the upper mounting nuts. Fit the strut into the damper fork, ensuring the alignment mark on the strut tube matches the groove on the damper fork. Hand-tighten the pinch bolt and damper fork bolt, then reinstall the front wheels and lower the vehicle. With all four wheels on the ground, tighten the damper fork nut to 47 ft. lbs. (65 Nm) while holding the damper fork bolt, tighten the damper fork pinch bolt to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm), and the upper strut mounting nuts to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm). Finally, tighten the wheel lug nuts to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm) and check the vehicle's front end alignment. For overhaul, if the strut assemblies are worn or damaged, they must be replaced, as they are sealed units, with the coil spring being the only removable component.

Remove the cotter pin and upper ball joint nut, use a 10mm nut on the ball joint to separate it from the knuckle with a removal tool.
