    There are several factors that can cause detonation in the combustion chamber such as timing advance being excessive, and fuel with low octane content. This sensor generates a signal from the recorded knock frequency, which is done by a piezoelectric ceramic disc positioned inside it. Wrong signals may be caused by loose bracket or over-tightened sensor. A scan tool can help monitor this sensor while checking harness continuity is only available test. Whenever replacing or installing this sensor; do not forget to disconnect the battery, find a spot for this device, unplug and then take out it before putting another one.
