    Q:
How do you remove and install the transmission range switch on Honda Odyssey? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, take out the key of the ignition key lock cylinder and put the shift lever in the neutral position. The next step is to lift the vehicle off the ground using jack and place bolt on few of them to ensure it doesn't move. Remove the transmission range switch electrical connector from its mounting bracket using a thin slotted screwdriver blade and slide it in between the release lever and the connector the wards the release lever down and pull on the connector to remove it from the bracket. To remove the electrical connector, there is a short tab on the top evidenced by a grove, press down and pull the two halves apart. Next, unplug the wiring harness for the transmission range switch from the transaxle by pulling the plastic, which covers metal connector overheats, downward with your fingers and another metal connector that comes without overheating by pulling it upward with your fingers after removing the bolt from the latter, that also holds the heated metal clip compressed between the wiring harness connectors and the transaxle. Disconnect the transmission range switch cover bolts and then you need to take off the cover then take off the transmission range switch mounting bolts that are responsible for attaching the switch. After this you should turn on the longer inside diameter of the switch to the stationary Neutral mark, check the control shaft on the gear box and shift it up to the neutral gear by turning anticlockwise up to the third gear then clockwise up to neutral gear. The process of installing the switch is done in a way that it reverses the removal process while making certain that the mounting bolts of the transmission range switch are tightened to the recommended torque without any movement of the switch. Last, start the engine by turning the ignition switch in ON position, shift through all the gears and make sure that the gear shift indicator shows the correct gear, and in any other gear apart from Park and Neutral the engine should not start, whereas the back-up light should light up when the shift lever is in the Reverse gear. If any of them have not been met, adjust the range switch of the transmissions.
