    Q:
How do you remove and install the Radiator on Honda CRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
Never try to open the cooling system of the vehicle when the engine has become hot since this explained as high pressure system and may lead to scalping. When deglothering avoid spilling the ethylene glycol based antifreeze as pets like dogs and cats are attracted to its sweet smell and taste and can die after being given this substance, which is often found in puddles in an uncovered container. When draining always do so into a sealed container, and the coolant should not be disposed of if it is not too dirty or is more than three years old. While pulling out the radiator one has to ensure that the core and the fins have not been damaged. To service 1984-87 models remove the negative battery terminal, put a clean drain pan under the radiator, open the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator and drain the cooling system removing the radiator cap in the process. Remove electrical connectors from thermo-switch and the cooling fan's motor, the upper coolant hose from the top of the radiator tank, and the lower one at the water pump as we as the hose of the coolant tank. Take out the fan and the radiator with bolts which are connecting the radiator to the chassis and check hoses and clean the blocked fins if exists. If so, replace it with new ones, follow the above mentioned steps in reverse, and tighten the radiators to the chassis bolts to 7 ft. lbs. , replace the cooling system, bleed the hot coolant and check for leakage after the starting of the car engine. On 88-91 models, remove the nut from the negative battery terminal, drain the coolant and then remove the fan motor and thermo-switch wire connector and upper and lower hose clamps. If provided, remove and reconnect the automatic transaxle cooling lines at the place where it joins the radiator as well as the coolant reservoir overflow hose. The process of disassembly will involve first, the removal of the radiator attaching bolts and brackets together with the radiator complete with the cooling fan, secondly the cooling fan and the shroud. For the first steps of assembly; secure the cooling fan and shroud to the radiator, secure the radiator bolts and brackets, connect the coolant reservoir hose, reconnect the ATF cooling lines if applicable and the upper and lower radiator hoses. Last, join the fan motor and thermo-switch wire connector, fill the system with the right coolant, inspect for the leaks, burp the cooling system and join the bad terminal of the battery.
