    Q:
How to remove and install Clutch Disc,Flywheel and Pressure Plate on Honda Passport? Posted by Customer
    A:
Usually the components of the clutch are reached by taking off the transmission with the engine still in the car. However, if the engine is to be removed for it major overhauls, it would be good to inspect and replace the clutch as per the degree of its wear. At the start, you can start by depowering the release cylinder if there is any. The next step is to pull the transmission out of the car; to support the engine place an engine lift or use a jack placed on a piece of wood so that it is not in contact with the oil pump pickup. To assist in the holding of the clutch disc while removing it, screw in a clutch alignment tool on the clutch disc hub. Check the fly-wheel and pressure plate for index marks and bring your own in case of replacement when fitting. This is done by turning the pressure plate to the flywheel bolts in diagonal fashion to reduce pressure of the flywheel spring before totally removing the bolts, pressure plate and the clutch disk. When inspecting, physical scrutiny should be done on the flywheel to detect any crack or similar defects while the clutch disc lining should be above the rivet heads in the search of any damage. The release bearing is normally replaced together with the clutch disc. Check the condition of the pressure plate and look for signs of wear and damage; if needed, then the pressure plate should be replaced. It is advisable to clean the surfaces of the flywheel and pressure plate before installation so as to avoid cases of contamination. Align the clutch disc and pressure plate accurately using this tool and fix the pressure plate on the flywheel. Loosely install the pressure plate to the flywheel with the pressure plate to flywheel bolts to the 'snug fit' then align the clutch disc and in a cross-like pattern and torque down to 35 lb. ft. Last but not the least, lubricate the release bearing and fork fingers, fit the release bearing, replace the transmission and all the parts removed earlier while making sure that the several screws and bolts are well tightened up to their respective torque limits.
