To replace the stud, first remove the front knuckle assembly, then for 1996-97 Accord models, press the front hub out of the wheel bearing assembly, ensuring the hub sub-assembly is unbolted if necessary. Position the back side of the hub over a deep well impact socket and use a hydraulic press or ball peen hammer to drive the stud out. For installation, place the front side of the hub flush with the socket, ensuring the threaded portion does not contact the bottom, then drive the stud through until the button head bottoms on the hub. For 1996-97 models, replace the wheel bearing and press the hub into the assembly, reinstall the hub sub-assembly if removed, and complete the installation in reverse order, using a new wheel lug nut for each stud and torquing them to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm), along with a new axle nut torqued to 181 ft. lbs. (245 Nm) and staked. For the rear, remove the rear hub assembly, position the hub over a deep well impact socket, and drive the stud out using a hydraulic press or hammer. For installation, ensure the threaded portion does not contact the socket bottom, drive the stud through until the button head bottoms on the hub, and complete the installation in reverse order, using a new wheel lug nut for each stud and torquing them to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm), along with a new axle nut torqued to 181 ft. lbs. (245 Nm) and staked.
