Check the fuse and all connections in the circuit for looseness and corrosion. Make sure the battery is fully charged. With the transmission in Park, the parking brake securely set, turn the ignition switch On (engine not running). Without disconnecting the blower motor, insert a jumper wire into the backside of the blower motor connector blue/black wire (Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the three mounting screws to remove the blower motor) and connect the other end of the jumper wire to ground. If the blower motor runs the fault lies with the blower fan switch, the blower resistors or related wiring. If the motor didn't run with the jumper connected to ground, remove the jumper, disconnect the electrical connector at the blower motor and with a voltmeter measure the voltage between the connector blue/white wire and ground. If there is battery voltage present and the motor didn't run at any speed, replace the blower motor. If no battery voltage is present, check the blower motor relay or related wiring. The blower resistor assembly is located on the blower motor housing unit case. There are several resistance elements mounted on the resistor board to provide low and medium blower speeds. If the blower motor runs, but one or more speeds are inoperative, remove the blower resistor from the heater case mounting location and visually check for damage. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistor block for continuity between all the terminals If any of the resistors are open replace the blower resistor assembly.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal and disable the airbag. Ensure you have the radio's anti-theft code if applicable. The blower unit is behind the glovebox. Disconnect its electrical connector and remove three screws to take out the blower motor. If replacing the motor, detach it from the fan wheel and attach the fan to the new motor. Reinstall in reverse order and check functionality.

The SRS system should always be disarmed before performing dash repairs. On Accord and Prelude models, removing the blower motor might require taking out the A/C evaporator. Only MVAC trained and EPA certified technicians should service A/C components due to legal implications. For the Accord 1996-97 models, remove the negative battery cable, glove box door and frame, and heater duct. Detach electrical connectors from the blower motor, remove fasteners, and take the motor out downwards. For the Prelude 1996 models, detach the negative battery cable, take out the glove box and frame, and remove the heater duct. Disconnect all electrical connections from the blower motor, remove the blower resistor, recirculation motor, and two nuts from the bolts. For the heater core, take your vehicle to an approved facility and discharge the A/C system. Drain the engine coolant, remove the heater control valve, and take out the heater hoses. For the heater water control valve, turn the ignition switch to ON, set the heater temperature to full hot, then switch OFF. Drain the coolant, or clamp the two heater hoses. Remove the control valve cable clamp and cable, and take out the heater hoses and the control valve. For the control panel, remove the center trim panel, detach the air mix control cable from the heater unit, remove panel retaining screws, and pull the heater control panel from the dash.
