    Q:
How to begin the upper intake manifold procedure on Honda Odyssey? Posted by Customer
    A:
As a start, dispossess the fuel pressure and join off the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the coolant hoses to the throttle body first and clamp off the hoses in preparation to some dripping of the coolant. Remove the air intake duct, throttle linkage, hoses and other connections from the throttle body, and then, taking care of the screw position for the intake manifold cover for the 2001 models remove the cover. For 2002 and latter models use the following sequence as the reverse of the tightening sequence for the intake manifold cover. Remove vacuum hoses from the rear side of the intake manifold and put tags on them for insertion thereafter. Pull off the engine harness connectors from the various locations they are attached to and get to tape them as well. Removing the bolts and nuts in the directly opposite order to the tightening sequence opens up the engine to let you take off the manifold; it has the throttle body attached to it. For installation, prepare the installation areas of the lower manifold by wiping on with lacquer thinner, remove old gasket material on the surfaces of the lower manifold and fix a new gasket over the stud of the lower manifold before fixing the upper intake manifold or plenum chamber. Loosen the nuts and bolts and then tighten in sequence to the indicated torque figure and then check the coolant level and replenish if necessary then reconnect the battery. The lower intake manifold involves the following: In case of PS pump, it should be unbolted and set to one side but hoses should not be disconnected. Remove all electrical connectors from the fuel injectors, be sure to label all of those connectors and then take the fuel rails off on the lower side of the intake manifold. Remove both of the lower intake manifold sections loose from the cylinder heads with care so as to not to pry through the gasket sealing surfaces. During removal the fuel injectors may be left in the lower intake manifolds although this depends on the extent of the repairs to be carried out. Lightly employ a scraper to clean all the areas where the old gasket, was and sealant was on the manifold and cylinder heads carefully and then wash the surface with lacquer thinner or acetone. The new gaskets are placed over the dowels stuffed in the cylinder head and the lower manifolds placed on the cylinder head with the right alignment. Screw in the nuts and bolts and fasten them in three equal and equal stages starting from the center in order to prevent distortion. Last of it all, fit the upper intake manifold, tighten the bolts that hold it in place and repeat the process of fitting and removing in reverse order, check the coolant level and start the engine to inspect for fuel, vacuum and coolant leaks.

    Q:
How do you access and work on the upper and lower intake manifold for the Honda Pilot? Posted by Customer
    A:
To begin working on the upper intake manifold, you must first relieve its fuel pressure as well as disconnect the battery. Then, take off the engine cover, breather hose, air intake duct, accelerator cable, and throttle body connections. Take away the intake manifold cover together with the upper intake manifold also if it is there remove the spacer plate. Mount a new gasket and then attach a new spacer and finally fix up the upper intake manifold by tightening all nuts and bolts in place. At this point reconnect your battery and check the coolant level before moving to lower intake manifold. After that remove upper intake manifold together with fuel rails then take apart two lower intake manifold sections.
