Before attempting to pull the intake manifold, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal on the battery and have the activation code of the base of the radio in case the car stereo has an anti-theft feature. Disconnect the intake air ducts from the air cleaner assembly; drain the cooling system. Indeed, if the vacuum lines and electric connector exist they should be labeled and disconnected, whereas all the hoses and other items that can be attached to the intake manifold should be detached as well. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle lever and unbolt the coolant hoses which are connected to the intake manifold. Last but not least, it is necessary to unscrew the intake manifold bolts and pull the intake manifold off the engine and carefully observe the nut behind the EGR flange casting that is impossible to see from above. If installing on a new kiln, clean the manifold nuts with solvent and dry with compressed air if possible. Flattess test of the mating surfaces should be carry out with the help of precision straight edge and feeler gauge simultaneously, checks for cracks or distortion of the manifold and if it is found to be correct should be replaced with new one or take it to automotive machine shop for surface rectification. Inspected for worn or damaged intake manifold bolts or studs and replaced those that are bad with new ones. Scrape off all the remnants of gasket material from the contacting surfaces of the cylinder head and the manifold; after that, wipe the surfaces with the lacquer thinner or acetone. Swapping the intake manifold with a new gasket and loose of the bolts, tightening them with fingers then turn other adjacent bolts then the opposite bolts in sequence until the intake manifold bolts reach the standard torque.
